On Friday 21, 2018, RACOBAO staff will go on a 2 week Christmas break. This follows a week of brisk activity. First in line was the annual general assembly where RACOBAO delegates deliberated on the year 2018 and voted to adopt the audited financial statements for 2017. Delegates also voted Deloitte and Touche as our audit partners for 2018. RACOBAO invited various leaders including government leaders, religious, and cultural leaders to witness the meeting.
At the same time, RACOBAO successfully concluded the contingency planning workshop funded by the European Union and facilitated by Toke Bengsston; a EU Aid Volunteer. Members of the District Disaster Management Committee; many of whom are departmental heads at Lyantonde District Local Government pledged to mainstream disaster preparedness by incorporating DRR activities in the next district budget. The workshop was also attended by other ACT Members including ICCO Cooperation and Church of Uganda.
A few days later, RACOBAO staff together with local leaders in Kagamba Sub County came together to hand over new houses built for vulnerable households decimated by HIV/AIDS. The new houses also had new kitchens, new latrines, new 4,000 litre water tanks, as well as household items like beds, mattresses, blankets, jerry cans, basins, and mosquito nets. This was a deserving Christmas gift to the benefitting families, said one of the local leaders.
